The “Misa Criolla” by Ariel Ramirez is one of the most important works of Argentine sacred music of the last century, in which latin American and European musical elements unite.
Clementina Culzoni and Puro Tango Ensemble play according to an exceptional and engaging arrangement for vocals, piano, double bass and traditional instruments of the Andean region. The text of the “Misa Criolla” is the official Spanish version of the holy mass. The musical parts were based on typical rhythms of different regions of Argentina. Together with the christmas cantata “Navidad Nuestra” it transfers the christmas story into South American culture and music.
“Clementina does not only have a beautiful voice, but also an almost hypnotising stage presence. Her musicians do not only frame her, they fit together like puzzle pieces to form a congenial, lively ensemble of great charisma”. Elke Tober-Vogt. Main Post.
Tango Christmas, a Puro Tango Show
It’s sure not going to be boring…
The soprano sets the table: Argentinian fiery and archaic at the same time: Creole mass by Ariel Ramirez, tangos by Astor Piazzolla & Clementina’s heart stories.
It is hot, 40 degrees will greet the Christ child when he is born, The gift table is full, the Christ child is supposed to receive a poncho made of warm alpaca wool, but the child is not yet born… Maria runs through the endless pampas, she is not spared the sandstorms, Maria is looking for a sheltered place… Clementina’ s soprano voice takes us on a pilgrimage with the cantata “Our Christmas” by Ariel Ramirez…just not so quickly…

Clementina needs more than one tango by Astor Piazzolla to get into a celebratory mood…With each tango the actress takes us into the depths of Argentina, into the most hidden longings of a music that no one can escape. Jörg Heß on the double bass and Rainer Armbrust on the piano, long-time companions, complete the ensemble by musically underlining the contrasts of the continents.
The Real Christmas Story happened in Argentina….
It is still Advent, time for the Creole Mass, also by Ariel Ramirez. The Argentine composed the highly valued “Misa Criolla” in 1964, one of the most important works of Argentine sacred music of the last century, in which Latin American and European elements combine. With this music he created a completely new type of connection between European and traditional Latin American culture, so Clementina’ soprano voice has to interpret a joyful “Credo” and a danced “Gloria”…because the Christ child is coming tonight… a huge party has to be celebrated!
